Workshop: Latest Tools for Advanced Environmental Scanning, Managing Information Overload and Sense-making
Advanced Notice> Workshop > Latest Tools for Advanced Environmental Scanning, Managing Information Overload and Sense-making
I’m drafting the final touches of a New one day workshop for strategic planners, futurists, scenario planners and horizon scanners on the Latest Tools for Advanced Environmental Scanning.
Lots of great new stuff out there now, such as SNA (Social Network Analysis) tools, which no one really talked about in any detail at the WFS or APF meetings.
For example -- Librarians, Knowledge Management professionals, Competitive intelligence analysts and Uinversity researchers are using plenty of cool (SFE) search-find-explore tools and new approaches for managing information overload, which most futurists haven’t even dreamt about.
Concept mapping tools, Topic Maps (XTM), Collaboration software, Self–evolving taxonomy engines , summarization engines and concept extraction engines are all mainstream now, but are not being used my many futurists yet….ie adoption curve by futurists is dismal according to my very informal poll of: who uses what in-house at the WFS.org annual meeting two weeks ago.
Any vendors who might have leading edge scanning, collaboration or search technologies, please feel free to get in touch.
I plan on launching the workshop in late September in Toronto. I’m starting to market & promote this in about a week, so stay tuned.
