Last week I spoke at the Canada Ukraine Business Summit in Ukraine
One of the sponsors was the famous Ukrainian Yuzhnoye State Design Bureau which for the last 50 years did all the design and manufacturing work on space rockets for the former Soviet Union’s space program and now continues work on the international sea launch project and in designing micro satellites
Yuzhnoye has also diversified into alternate energy and power generation projects. One demonstration project that caught my eye was the design of an Autonomous 200 Kw Wind-Hydrogen Generation Station. It can produce 100 kg of hydrogen ( I’m assuming per day…not stated) which corresponds to the energy equivalent of ~250 liters of petrol (or gasoline) and thereby reducing CO2 emissions into the atmosphere by 500 kg.
This hydrogen can be stored in either high pressure vessels or in metal hydride complexes such as metal organic frameworks
