Journal of Commercial Biotechnology CALL FOR PAPERS Special Issue on Bioentrepreneurship Education
Guest editor: Professor Arlen Meyers, University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine and Bard Center for Entrepreneurship
Deadline for paper submission: 15th August 2008
Bioentrepreneurship is the process of creating value through bioscience innovation. One of the challenges confronting policy makers, the bioscience industry and educators is providing enough management and leadership talent to sustain the growth of the industry. This call for papers of a special issue of Journal of Commercial Biotechnology is seeking interdisciplinary research that investigates and reports on educational programs designed to teach the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to start and grow bioscience companies. Since the art and practice of Bioentrepreneurship involves multiple disciplines we anticipate contributions that span and integrate leading edge thinking from a range of areas including science, management, business development, entrepreneurship, leadership and the law. Specific sub-themes that are particularly relevant for (but not limited to) the special issue include:
o Curriculum design
o Pedagogical innovations
o Models of academic-industry integration
o Undergraduate programs
o Graduate and fellowship programs
o Joint degree programs such as MD/MBA or PhD/MBA
o Faculty development
o Student career development innovations
o Teaching Bioentrepreneurship with technology
o Barriers to innovation
Submissions that span multiple sub-themes and are of an integrative nature in their investigation of issues related to the overall theme are especially encouraged. Theoretical, case study and normative manuscripts are suitable for the special issue and all research methods are appropriate. All papers will be subjected to double-blind peer review. Full notes for contributors can be found at: http://www.palgrave-journals.com/jcb/author_instructions.html.
