I'm sitting at home on a snowy Tuesday January 1st 2008, recovering from what could have been a life-threatening event- I had a ruptured appendix on Christmas day and was whisked into surgery the next day.
Luckily, as a wintertime preventive measure, I was taking 2,000 international units of Vitamin D all through December, as well as Rhodiola rosia, an anti-stress and longevity herb, which supercharged my immune system to fight the infection when my appendix burst. Throughout the whole episode, I had no fever and felt very little pain. I thought it was a pulled muscle and not a ruptured appendix. Not being able to do much of anything yet for the next two weeks--in fact, sitting in a chair in front of a laptop is a major accomplishment for me now, I was reminiscing this morning about what happened in 2007 (successes and failures) and planning for 2008, as most business people tend to do at this time of the year....
