Yesterday a Canadian report called Rising Tide, The Impacts of Dementia on Canadian Society was widely quoted in the media
Some of the worrying stats include:
- Prevalence of full blown Alzheimer's will more then double from 480,000 cases(2008) to 1,125,000 in thirty years(2038)
- Incidence of new cases -103,700 (2008) to 257,800 (2038)
- Economic burden spikes 10 times from $15 billion (2008) to $153 billion (2038)
- Informal care: 231 million care-giver hours (2008) to 756 million care-giver hours (2038)
"We need to get a lot smarter about how we deal with dementia."said David Harvey from the Alzheimer's Society of Canada.
The good news is that a prevention and cure will be available shortly --- hydrated fullerene (C60) water solution (FWS) will be on the market in Ukraine soon..it's passed clinical studies and has been approved as a natural food supplement by the Ministry of Health. Now the manufacturer is just awaiting hygeine certification approval for manufacturing --great news for all aging baby boomers for 2010!
As we mentioned on this blog before...."Researchers in Ukraine have shown for the first time by transmission electron microscopy that:
“hydrated fullerene C60 inhibited the fibrillization of amyloid-ß25-35 peptide. The fullerene affected the amyloid-ß25-35 assembly, manifesting its anti-amyloidogenic capacity. Our in vivo investigations demonstrated also that a single intracerebroventricular injection of the C60 hydrated fullerene at a dose of 7.2 nmol/ventricle significantly improved the performance of the cognitive task in control rats.”
